So Much For My Happy Ending....

even if just one got saved from our trip than i would count it as a sucess. if when you think of missions you think fun than you are mistaken my dear friends. it had it moments but the thing it is satisfying. this trip has made me see how much i have that i dont need. how much Health is part of Gods graces. how much my family really means to me.how much i love my friends. how much my church means to me.how much God means to me. he was my strengthen when i felt like giving up he was my voice when i didnt have the words. he has given me more than i could ask for and im sure if your reading this he has done the same for you. i pray that my letters have been a little window into this other world and i hope that when you read then they dont just stir you but changed you. happy ending no... but God doesnt promise us rose gardens. A summer filled of obediance and wisdom, let downs and awing at God. it was a summer chasing a untamable, all powerful, loving, living God.

peace and grace

Starving Jesus

i guess the chase never really ended or stopped. I didnt stop seeking God and he didnt stop working in me. isnt the lord Good.
so we have moved to juiliaca due to the fact that the taxi drivers were talking about striking again. i also went to the doctor and got so meds so im doing much better now. we found a place for 7sols a night which is cheaper than lampa except its a pretty shady place...some one died their the other night. but just cuz we left lampa doesnt mean we stop ministring(sp?).
last night we took all our clothing and gave it away to homeless children as well as four hot meals. it was just heart breaking to see children as young as 10 taking care of his brother 5. we told them we were christians that jesus loved them and that while their wasnt much we could do right now we could give them enough to keep warm that night and a full belly. it really brings matthew 25:31-46 to life. focus on verse 35 and 36.

while we havent had a big ministry in juiliaca a couple of times when we have come down here to get pizza(thats austin and erics Gold ) they normally have gotten one to go and then as we walking out of the city, they feed many homeless people and the first time i saw them do that i just was so happy i had them both on my team. the only thing they treasure in peru and they were giving it away to just anyone. Not to brag on them but i dont say much about them so...

You Know How I Do

english classes are going good. while the focus is english the stories are all people from the faith chapter in hebrews 11. the final lesson will be the whole chapter. this is going to be really cool.
we didnt go to cantria this week because the fair is in town. we decide were going to hang out their and pass out tracks. i had en interview on the radio at the fair yesterday actually. it was rather odd because the guy interviewing me was hammer drunk. but i share about how i wasnt here to spread a religion but a relationship. we then found some long lost friends...
theirs a place we love to eat breakfast at because they are the only ones open at that time. well they closed down last week. the first month we ate their everyday and the owners wife has a love/hate relationships with us. we love eating their and she hates dealing with us. so when she saw us yesterday she look like she had seen a ghost, you could see the all crap look on her face it was really funny. we also discovered a chichilla farm behind lampa.
eric and I woke up at 7am today to have a bible study with a guy who knew Kevin Neufield. we taught him about the lords prayer and it honestly broke my heart when we were done because he asked if we could really pray at anytime. I never thought about how much the catholic infulence could effect their relationship in prayer. but i went on to explain to him that God never leaves us so we can always pray to him. were meeting with another young man who can t make it to church tonight(if their not coming to us were going to them).
be home in two weeks from today.

lifes like this...

1sam15:22
king saul wanted to make a sacrifice to God when God had told him to destory everything. God is much more pleased with our obedience than with sacrifices.

we been trying so hard to start a church here in lampa because the church that was here died. we try and try but when we least expect it God Blows our Minds and says that just happend.
saturday night we were out in the plaza buying food when this little kid with a funny accent comes up to us. hello! so we respond hey. (hes more interested in talking with eric and austin cuz there white.) he then ask us where we are from.Atlanta and nashville. then he ask us if we speak english. well yeah. then his teacher comes up to us. hi im lee. cool. he asked what were doing here in lampa. we said missions. he said that he loves missionaries they taugh him english. then i ask if it was reapsouth. he says yeah. apparently he was just with one of our other teams. so now we have a english teacher that can help us with the english ministry. and hes help inprove our teams spanish alot. we plan on starting english classes tuesday.

the kids come to sunday morning church and we taught them the daniel and the loins story. they said they already knew it and then we sang some songs that they already knew.(they went to the catholic church when they were little.) they (david alberto and cant remember the other ones names)will probably the people we infulence the most so start praying from them.

bad news however the church in hytro central has lost its pastor. he has moved away recently to find more work. the prices of things has risen so much that simple farms cant make it so their moving to the jungles to work in the mines. plz be in prayer for pastor juan . he is suppost to come back in september. he has 2 kids and a wife he left to try to make some money to live off of.

missionary life.

so this week we tryed biking to the towns because the taxi drivers are striking.
the first day erics chain broke and we turned around after an hour.
the next day we tryed going to tusoni chico austin and eric hung back because austin was feeling sick and i rode ahead and got their to find out they werent having school because they teachers were striking too.(everyone was striking). so i rode back and told them but austin had gotten worst so i rode ahead to tunsoni grande to see if their was someone who could take austin back to lampa and this guy did after he kind of walked f0r 30 more mins. erics chain broke again on the way their and then mine did on the way into lampa. (maybe God wanted us to stay in lampa?) well wed instead of trying the bikes again we went to the protest and God drops a ministry into our laps. a young lady ask if we will teach her and her friends english. so we agree and are going to start next week. then thursday night (rick and karen came back to lampa(traveling team) we had a meeting but no one showed up except this one guy. he asked for a bible and we asked him many question and he answer alot of them right. we just home that his faith isnt a bunch of answer but a relationship with christ.
today karen and rick left us and then mike weaver moved the training to chupo from lampa. so now we have to go cancel everything and tell everyone we told that its moved.
just an update.

Blood Sweat and Tears

No one knows when or how they will go. so how will you live?

today rick and karin (the traveling team that checks up on us to make sure were alive and deal with conflict) come to see us. but their trip was short cut dew to bad news. the research team had been in a horrible accident. the two girls were hurt but Greg Gomez died.
the research team gos to other countries to see if missions are possible there. they spent their time in chile .they are like the spys in going into the promised land.
gregs last words to the summer missions team were Act 20:20-24.

how I did not shrink back from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teach youing you in public and house to house testifying to both jews and to Greeks of repentance towards God and of faith in our lord jesus christ. and now behold i am going to jerusalem constrained by the spirit not knowing what will happen to me , except that the holy spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and affliction awaits me. but i do not account my life of any value nor precious to myself if only i may finish the race my course and the ministry that i received from the lord jesus to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

greg just finished college and was applying to be an engineer.this guy always had a smile on his face. he said the hardest part of doing research was that he couldnt open share the gospel as much as he would like. the team was traveling around central peru when the convey wrecked(no details). he was killed instantly. He is a amazing example of what it is to be a christian to give everything for what you believe in. its hard to think at nasca we had dinner together 3 times and now hes gone. his parents are christian and they are taking it every well. but then again how couldnt they he died doing what he wanted which was testifying to the gospel of the grace of God.
i was really looking foward to seeing him at end summer but i guess ill have to wait till i get to heaven. As much of a downer as this is i know that this will help show the peruvians how important this work is to us and how important jesus is.

in the world you will have tribulation but take heart i have overcome the world - Jesus

in other news we are currently riding bikes out to the villages due to strikes and roads being messed up. its been rough here lately with the death of greg the lack of taxi and then erics bike braking down. but i know tommorow will me amazing because with each new day comes new blessings.
in other other news we found a jewish temple right outside of juliaca.

plz pray for gregs family for his team and for the other missionaries. their is a fear in the reapsouth office that many people will want to go home instantly. pray that Greg did not die in vain that his life is a testimony to the whole reapsouth Summer missions Team. that it may encourage them to keep going.

I surrender everything to you my God and King

you have set my heart on fire and for you I must sing.

this refreshing time in nasca has been amazing. we stayed in probably the nice place in all of peru. its so hot here..its awsum. we have been meeting with all the missionaries to tell our stories. hearing all sorts of crazy things like people hiking 9 days straight to a guy following off a mountain holding on for his life. i realized how easy we have it in lampa. the other team of two girls that we traveled with has to bike 5-9 miles each day to reach the school( and like our places sometimes theirs on one there.) its really made us rethink our plans for lampa. we might be cutting a village out of our rotation and be spending more time in lampa. we also have some really exciting news, er err errric Jones is joining our team. he is one of the guys from the traveling team who came and saw us, he felt God telling him to stay but mike weaver said to wait till nasca(eric could really do what he wanted but he wanted to seek wise council ). during nasca 10mins before we left he told eric he could go with us. so we prayed and ask God to provide a way for him to travel with us or to shut the door (which everyone because we just want what he wants.) we got there and there was room on the bus but we decide to change our tickets for today because he hadnt packed yet. so hes part of our team now. ( it's so good to be with people who just want what God wants there wasnt any hard feelings between us and his old team. they just said take care of our eric.
we plan on going to lake Titicaca this weekend for a fourth of july party with some of our lady friends. jk they just need a translator bc theirs is doesnt want to go so were meeting up in juliaca.
its good to have a renewed heart but im ready to go back on the mission field, because no matter if they listen or not i just have to proclaim God.

The Suffering

1st Tim 4:12
dont let anyone look down on you because of your youth, be an example for the believers in speech,in life,in love,in faith and in purity.

june 25 for most of us just another day. its my mother bday today so liz if you would tell happy bday for me.

today as i said i missed my mothers bday and to be honest the pain of going so far from home is really hitting hard today. the kids in cantria cheered me up bc they actually listend to us. then playing soccer with them eased my mind. in tusoni chico however the director headed home early and didnt tell us he wasnt having class this week. this really hurt not just cuz they werent their but because i honestly saw something their. so much so that me and austin decide to sacrifice some money and go ahead and buy bibles for them. when we did it weeks ago it didnt hurt because we were still loaded. the past week we have felt it pretty bad. we have been eating mostly peruvian food and avoid any bad money choices. to be honest some night we have gone to bed hungry yet its worth it for the sake of the gospel. we know that we could have just asked yall for money but we wanted to make a sacrifice. it wouldnt have been much of a sacrifice for us to do it then ask for more money. we have enough money to eat for the next couple of day and to get to nasca, so dont go running to the atm. i like the way paul put it the more i love the more i get hurt.

back to tusoni chico the only people their was their president and some guy who were both wasted.

im very excited about tommorow. we go to nasca to be with the other missionaries and to get a little time off.i know the past 3 or 4 blogs havent been to happy but im honest very happy here. its odd how in the deeps sorrow Gods love is more conforting than ever. i guess its because thats why i am here, not for peru sake or my sake but for His sake.

i have honestly never been so sad to be away from lithia springs Ga.even at college i only called when i need something.
i miss yall.i love yall and i thank yall for the prayers i can honestly feel them.

grrr part 2.

so today in tusoni grande (normally my favorite place to go) we pretty much didnt nothing. the kids were acting up worst than normal. they normally run away from us when we get their but after a few mins. normally they warm up to us . today they just didnt want to do anything... i would ask them to do this or that and they would all reply no. im not one to get mad at little kids...mostly cuz their kids but they just acted as if they didnt know us. normally theirs a group of boys who play with us and do all sort of stuff with us but even they were being really weird.

i know God is still incontrol but its just so hard to have to bad days in a row after having such a good week.
pray for the leadership retreat were having for the peruvians next month.(ask God to provide for peoples hearts to be moved to come and for funds to be provided for them to come.)
pray for the kids in tusoni chico that they might remember everything we have taught them
pray for austins health hes been kinda sick alot lately.
pray from me to have a peace during this madness.

love peace and grace
Jorge

liz yall know i have bank of america

grrr

the peruvians in lampa didnt work today. well most importantly the taxi drivers didnt so that left austin and i in lampa. i spent most of the day talking to tio hes a blind internet cafe shop owner. hes a christian for sure. we discussed alot of different stuff to day mostly the trinity and how it had to be jesus on the cross. he also encouraged me the other day when i was feeling down.
all i can do is follow jesus while im here even if none go with me....
thanks for the love and pray and support sorry today sucked.

happy 183 birthday lampa...

this weekend was pretty wild with all the parties and festivals.
they didnt let us sleep and we were both sick most of the weekend (not bad just kind of had to stay near a bathroom lol.)

today is my bday
its been pretty cool to look back at my life as i have attempted to follow God. it all started with a mission trip then that summer i spent my birthday at summit (christian camp.) the next summer i was teaching at student life (christian camp). this year im in peru spreading the good news. this really excites me because this is just my 3rd birthday as a christian who knows were God could put me next year for my birthday.when i "signed up" i had no clue i would end up in peru and as i read more and more of his word it gives hope to see were he will send me.

drew i sent ya the stuff i needed on myspace. you should see if you can come a little later and stay till the when we leave. that would be awsum because then you would get to meet the other missionaries,it would make traveling for ya easier cuz we would be with ya,you would get to see more of the country. like flying in the 19 or 20th and then flying home with us the first or sumthing. this is just an idea do whatever works best for ya. i hope to see ya down here.i reposted the things at the bottom .
liz tell the familia to give me some money from my bday and then put it in my bank account. then tell me how much so i can withdrew it. tell the parents at least.lol.

The long awaited update.

Sorry it took so long but the creative ministry team was here and that pretty much consumed most of our time. Ill tell ya a little about them and their part in reapsouth. They (8 0f them) travel constantly from one team to the next and help them by going to their ministry places. They have dramas, skits, puppets, songs, and many other ministry tools to point people to our great God.

Saturday
Sometime in the morning they arrive and get settled in. it took me by surprise because they aren’t support to be here till tomorrow. They say their not tired just hungry, so I take them to my local favorites (at that time) but they wanted to go to the market and they pretty much buy anything and eat it. This surprise me because we were told that any raw fruits, vegs ,and all dairy products. They bought all sorts of breads, fruits, cheese ,and they pretty much addicted to Peruvian ice cream. The first eye opener (im pretty much eating anything now). After eating some they decide they wanted to see the town so I took them around. Most of the people split up and I end up with a young lady named Kathrin shes a independent missionary who has done reapsouth and wanted to help again. She was witnessing to this young man who was drunk and I had to translate because she couldn’t understand him .he said god hated him he complained about having so many statues of jesus and a cross around his neck quote “all this stuff doesn’t help me I cant sleep at night I just want to die but im locked out of my house right now”. we stayed with him for a while to make sure he was alright and to try to help him see the light of Christ. I’m going to try to visit him later .While walking around with her and Tommy, I saw this furious passion in her to spread the gospel. Her Spanish isn’t perfect but she was trying so much harder than anyone I had seen. Going from woman to woman sharing what Christ can do in your life. When I asked her about it she said that she couldn’t help it that she only had a couple of days here and that she had to glorify God. It was such an encouragement. They really liked our place (because we live here now lol) they said it was one of the nicer village they had been to . They were blown away by the microwave and water boiler. We sat did some planning and then we went out to sing to the village. While at first we were doing awesome and getting many people to stop talk and sing but towards the end we fell apart. Some people went off to play soccer other were trying to witness and others went to eat and we left Kathrin all alone sing by herself. The team was kind of upset with one another but we prayed for God to unite us (let me just ruin the ending he did.)

Sunday
We were going to the community of cantria to celebrate the towns anniversary. I was worried because we had been to some anniversaries and they normally involve lots of alcohol and loud music. Not necessarily the best place for ministry. While I don’t mind witnessing to a drunk man I don’t like witnessing to a drunk crowd in a area I don’t know. The lord however answered my prayers that they wouldn’t be drunk . We showed up and talked to the president he said they were a peaceful community . They were very receptive to us and even asked why we didn’t come yesterday. They really were a peaceful community as you looked around you could see the adults playing volleyball, the boys playing soccer, the girls sitting around talking, the older ladies making hats , all the older gentlemen were watching the adults play volleyball and cheering them on. It was a cloudless day and as you looked around you just realize how great our God is to give us such beautiful landscape. At once we all spread out to witness to the people Derek and Tommy went to the soccer field , all the girls spread out amongst the older and younger ladies . They made us wait till the volleyball game was over to present the gospel. We sang a song about how if you had faith like a mustard seed that you could move the mountains and as we did than many of the group ran into the crowd and started dancing with the people. It was silly but at it was good because it makes you seem human. After a couple more songs Tommy present the gospel and the story of Daniel and the lions. The people really enjoyed it but no one accepted Christ but their was many Christ filled conversation going on after the presentation . We then challenged them to a game of volley ball. Contrary to popular belief being tall isn’t that much of an advantage. We lost 4 to 25 but it was just really good to spend some time with them building relationships. When they started to pull out he food we knew it was time to go ( ya never know what they will try to feed ya) . We explained to them we had to go to julica. Everything in julica was full because it was lunch time (2 pm). So everyone went on and did their own thing. And got back together for dinner . It was Ahna’s birthday so we feasted like kings. She was the girl whom was going to be on our team but I really saw here place on the creative ministry team. She was very good at micromanagement and a nurse both things the team needed. God really gave me a peace about her not being here. Anyone however can see we need a girl on our team. Pray that God provides one for midsummer.

Monday
Beths birthday! Beth is this really sweet country girl from south Georgia. She’s going to be teaching first grade this next august. This girl had a heart for everyone and was constantly trying to witness found herself in a pickle and then came running to one of us to come help her. She had a really deep southern accent which made her Spanish really similar to the Spanish you hear in Mexican restaurants’ back home. She’s also got a sweet tooth like no other. Some of us fixed her breakfast in bed (Oreos tea and a pbj sandwich). We were planning on meeting inside a school with pastor juans church in hytrocentral . He said he couldn’t get the build so we just meet outside. We had like 8 adults and a lot of children. Pastor juan introduced us to this guy who he said he had just baptized not to long ago. We shared the gospel and one man ,Leoard, accept christ. Both men had to be over 45 years old. Later that night we celebrated Beth’s birthday with some home cooked food that our lady friends made Fruit salad, scrambled eggs , and French toast. Beth being the kind hearted person she is invited ms Julia and her kids (she works for senior mendiz the hostel owner). Mendiz being the great servant that he is went all the way to juilica to get the cake about an 30mins before we sat down for dinner. That night Beth Kathrin Tommy nick and I went out to pray walk. As I pray I asked God to remove my hate for the catholic influence on this place. As Baptist as might be I know that if the people of lampa called themselves Catholics but started to read the bible the light of christ would reform their thinking. As I am praying Kathrin go’s off by her self into the other town square so I followed her for safety reasons. When we went back to the little square nick was taking to a big group and one of the guys started singing. Kathrin then ask to see the guitar and we sang open the eyes of my heart in Spanish. Well their guitarist starts sing along and then he plays a song we all knew so we sang along. It turned out he was the guitar player for the catholic church. Good is God. Anyways we all worshipped for a while and I ran back to the hostel and got the rest of the guys together. Than as a group all of us and the group we meet went to sing to the blind guy in the internet café. His names tio and I had sang to him before with nick, Beth, and Kathrin. But now their was our 10 plus their 7. I really love this old guy even if he is blind I just feel sorry for him because he works all day everyday and no one except his wife pay attention to him. He says he’s a Christian and after we sang to him he asked to see the guitar and he played house of the rising sun. if someone wants to try to find a Spanish audio bible and send it with drew I would love ya. Our church gave him one once but someone stole it.

Tuesday
We missed tusoni grande last week because our drive didn’t show. So this time when we showed up I apologized to the director. He said it was fine and asked or bibles I told him next month. We shared the story of the good Samaritan . We played many games and sang some song but most of the kids still acted scared of us. One little boy however accepted christ. Im really excited cuz this kid is one of my favorites. The kids listen really intently to the puppets flacoman and bobbie. Eric and Jessica did the puppets which made it so funny.a really interesting pair eric is a former drug abuser and Jessica had cancer like 2 years ago . Its really good to see two people from completely different backgrounds glorify God. That night I cooked dinner for the group. I found some flour tortillas so I made tex-mex burritos. It was so funny because little sweet beth ate 6 of them and all the guys only at like 4. It was so amazingly good to eat some totillas.lol.

Wednesday
We were set to go cantria and tusoni chico. In cantria we shared the gospel and all the kids accepted christ. This brought me to frustration because when I started talking about baptism the direct told me I was stepping on toes trying to baptism them. But we shared the good Samaritan also. We normally meet a womens group their but they all didn’t come because they were all in lampa getting ready for their anniversary. This really made me upset because its so hard to ministry to women and the one time I have 4 women with me all the other women are gone. So after that we went to tusoni chico when we got their it was like a ghost town all the students and teachers were in lampa for the anniversary. Half the group decide to climb up to this cross and the other half of the group jumped into this river that ran by the village. I just sat their angry at God at the people just plain angry then I remember something Rick Martin said (hes been here 5 years as a missionary with his whole family 3 kids and a wife.) he said some place I start churches and as soon as I leave the church dies. It makes me sad but its not a failure. In my book it is a failure but then I remember something else that even if were rejected ignored or forgotten God is still glorified and that’s what really matters. Its easy to forget that im not here for the people but so that the lamb that was slain may get the reward he deservers. God reminded me of stephen he gave probably one of the best sermons and he was stoned for it yet God was still glorified. Then I heard everyone yelling to take their pictures from the top of the mountain. Its so interesting how God will renew your soul whenever he wants. Anyways we left and I felt better then because God had fixed me. As we left we meet some men and we shared some songs with them but they really didn’t want to hear it they went back to work. That afternoon most of the guys and ahna went to play sports with the lampa kids and tommy went to sleep . The other girls and I went to the square and rented some of the rickshaw bicyclical things and we raced around the square a couple of times. That night we sang more in the square and then some of the cmt went and climb the catholic church.

Thursday
We all got up early and some of us went to the giant white Jesus statue on top of this mountain that lets you look over lampa. When we got up their we decide to climb up on the Jesus. It was pretty cool. When we came back we got some food and then most of us went to the catholic church to see the catacombs . The church was creepy and I defiantly couldn’t go their for a Sunday service theirs to much to distract ya. We went into the catacomb but it didn’t last long both the girls started screaming and got scared so we started going out . On the way out Derek fell and hit his head and passed out. This freaked the girls out even more. After a while he was fine but later that day he passed out again. They were suppose to do the everything skit but Derek was suppose to be jess and we didn’t want him to pass out. They did another skit that night here in lampa. One girl (sonia 17 ) gave her life to christ. Austin was suppose to do a song but he messed up. He felt bad about it but Gods working through it. That night the cmt left but Austin stayed back in lampa (see austins blog) . I went to drop them off in julica. We ate dinner their and they bought me a bday cake. Mendiz and I waited out their forever with the group than we said our goodbyes (it wasn’t to sad bc ill see them next week for midsummer (that means were ½ done).

so today i felt as sick as a dog after a little breakfest. austin didnt get up till late bc he was sick all night. the thing we ate in cantria destroyed us.. mr mendiz told us later that what we ate would make him sick its a very strong food. so pretty much did nothing today...i hate to waste time like that but i felt like vommiting everytime i moved my head. all i did today was read narnia..i finished all the books today. but since we got hungry we came to this taco place with mr mendiz. i was hoping for real tacos but they were just microwaved. it was at his really trendy place . i think we scared them cuz we ate like 6 tacos each when like the big man special was 3 tacos. but now we feel way better!

let it snow let it snow let it snow...

this morning when i woke up..( i get up at like 5 or 6 whenever the sun rises ) it was snowing!! and raining. the clouds here are so low you cant see anything when it rains but it cleared up by 8am.

in other news im sick of small building... i hit my head once a day...

Today we went to cantria thinking that they meet at 10am like they did last week and like they told us they would. they didnt... they meet at 11am which if you know anything about peruvian time that means around 11:30ish. which is fine but we had to go to tusoni chico to show the jesus film. so we didnt get to meet with them today. well i talk to them for about 5mins told them that due to the timing we couldnt stay much longer.

tusoni chico was great . they had been pushing me for bibles for a since we got here. the village doesnt have running power or water but they have a really good director for juliaca who really wants us to teach the people bible. we showed them the jesus film to a small crowder their (i expected more.) but the high light of it was that we decide to go ahead and buy some bibles for them and they were really excited.they gave us some form of gravy drink need less to say i almost vomitted but it didnt hurt austin. plz pray for the chains of catholism to be broken.. they keep asking us to pray and when i try to explain to them that they can talk to jesus too ... well they normally just ask us to pray for other things.. i know part of it is the thought that we are special...hahaha we showed them pictures of our family and told them we were regular people back home and we want the same here we just want jesus lift high.

the gideons are coming!

well their coming to lampa to meet with us about getting free bibles. mean while we just make a couple of guess on money and decide we had enough to buy about 20 bibles ....their kinda heavy to carry around in one single book bag ( which im doing right now). also someone gave the church 200 dollars for us to buy bibles. thats some really awsum news. short update you should read the one below.
and mrs morris i got your comments im just not commenting on them bc you didnt ask any questions. but thanks for the love and support.

i almost forgot!?!?

i should have mention this sooner but i forgot. all the peruvians who are our translaters (we dont have one of course) but they all say yall and are like addicted to sweet tea. they also love mash potatos and gravy. if that doesnt make you feel at home i dont know what does.

i feel extra good today idk why.this weekend i just rest up alot and we went to see this big statue of jesus on top of this mountain right outside of lampa (thats were we live). theirs not much to do around here so we get frustrated of doing nothing quite often. i started to befriend some of the locals to pass the time.theirs one young man who i invited to our bible study in lampa (which we will start this week).i think he may step up to lead around here. hes from another town but hes here doing humanitary aid around the villages (not real work just research). today we went to see pastor juan to see the how things are doing in their church and decide what day we were to meet. mondays will be their day and he said that his church is doing fine on bibles and so next week will be our first offical meeting with them. he said that his church has lost alot of people due to economical problems. most of the villagers our moving towards the bigger citys to make enough money for their families. after that we went to juilaca for some supplies. great news someone donated some money for bibles. now we just got to wait for the money to get down here.

i dont think its a good idea to send care packages if you could see how far it is and the mail system isnt the greatest...aka i havent seen one. yall maybe able to call us and send us stuff ill put it up the address and phone number.

this is no taco you blasphemer!!!

really productive couple of days. went to julica yesterday to get stuff. then kind of just chilled the rest of the day. its been a while since we stopped moving. i was promised mexican food by a certain Mr mendiz but they werent open and they were like fake tacos. sad day but we did have chinese food at chifa fang huan. today we went to tusoni grande and tryed to get the little kids to listen to our bible stories. i told them a couple of story but mostly focused around noah. we played a lot of games with them too.i was really tired after playing soccer for like 20 mins. im not to sure about next week with them. as much as i love kids its hard for them to pay attention and its even harder for me to get them to pay attention. some of them did remember last time we came and talked about easter(mostly cuz we have a lot of childrens tracts about easter).

we also went to tusoni grande. they had alot of good questions and i wasnt really sure what kind of crowder to expect so i told three stories. women at the well, rich young ruler and jesus with the little children. they were really receptive but they keep askin for bibles. which is a hard thing to come by here even if you got the money. they kept trying to get me into a bind with questions about nonbelievers and catholics. God however gave me words. we plan on going back their wed to show the jesus film again.

thanks for all the support and prayers i miss yall.

sister tell the parents i said hey.tell them i kind of miss them just a little.tell them theirs no torillas down here so im pretty much starvin. give taco a big kiss for me i miss him. i got yall some stuff but yall have to make sure taco doesnt die while im gone if you want them.lol.

dale miss ya when your gone.

a new section to my blog the titles of people in peru so that i can make the blog flow better

their is a town leader thats head of the parents his offical jorge name the pta leader.

today was a sad day in peru history dale left us!? lol. he has actually be a big help and a great guy to have around. today in cantria we not only meet the pta leader but also the whole towns parents. they were mostly women so i did the woman at the well story (its great to be able to decide what story your going to do at a moments notice.) most of the women only spoke kechwa so the pta leader translated it for me to the women who didnt understand. the women meet once a week wed at the school so they asked us to come meet with them every wed. hopefully a church will be started. please prayer for the men of cantria because they seem to be the hardest to reach due to them working. we forgot our music for the kids so i made up something on the spot as well. we did races for new testaments and then i talk to the kids about the importance of running the race. austin sang mighty to save in spanish and its getting better everytime he plays it.

later on we went to tusoni chico again to show them the jesus film but what i was told about being a 6 hour bible study ended up being just a town meeting.a very heated town meeting at that. the director of the school really wanted us to share the gospel while the town president was wanting to get back to business. they kept pressing us for time so we only showed probably 35 mins of it but at the end i asked if they would like to meet fri to discuss more and they agreed.pray that God provides the bibles we need for the people in tusoni chico.

and great news today the traveling team (8 people) is coming to lampa june 15-19 so i we get some time with america people! july 15-19 we also get the whole mike weaver and his crew of 18 so as much as we thought we would be alone we have alots of company coming. and drew and kevin should be here around the same time in july. im super excited.

pictures from the trip so far...

today we set out to the town of tusoni chico bc they were suppost to have their bible study but when we got there they said it wasnt till wed. it was a honest mistake but the good part was i finally got to talk to lenny (hes a christian and computer nerd) he helped us get some copies of hillsong in spanish burn to give away as well as getting all the music printed. were going to try to set out to tusonai chico tommorow around 2 bc they have a 6 hour bible study. we plan on showing the jesus film but before we do all that were going to cantria to meet the director or mayor.

Monday, June 2, 2008

hi im new around here! will you be my friend??

today we set out to visit all the towns that our church had perviously visited. most of the towns didnt have power or running water and had about 50 people or less. i have been taking pictures like crazy except i kept forgetting to bring the camera up here to the internet cafe. no matter how many pictures i take however its nothing like being here and seeing Gods creation undisturbed (for the most part.) ill tell ya a little about the towns we hit.

1st cantria well we were going to lenzoro but we missed it by like 3 miles so we end up their but their director was really interested and said we could come back their.we decide this place was our friday place. the kids started yelling green gos right when we pulled up so i said wow! calm down little buddy mexicano. they all made fun of my big feet, beard and nose. i really think we can get something going their.

2nd tusani grande was pretty cool. they didnt really know what to say but they invited us back to. we handed out tracks to the kids that told the easter story and folded out to a big thing that stated that jesus was alive now! i was going to share a little but they were going to start class so i will next week.

3rd tusani chico was pretty much the best place ever. they were still meeting regularly (once a month). we met with the director who really was passionate about getting the gospel to the village. he invited us back tommorow bc thats when they have their bible studies. we gave them tracks about a little boy who gets introuble alot and then finds God. were going back their friday and after we visit back with tusani grande.

4th we finally found lenzoro but the people werent meeting their anymore they had all started gathering in a town called pequen. they meet once a month. it seems like all the one month churches meet on the 1st or 15th. were gonna try to check out pequen later but we will be coming back to lenzoro to meet with the kids their too. im not to sure about continously going their i didnt really feel a man of peace was their but well wait to see what happens.

5th we went to wto central (dont know how to spell it). we meet the pastor of a church their. he said they meet once a month as well depending on how the crops and herds are doing.we plan on going back their monday to see how we can help his 15 people church expand.

bad news however as we were riding around and during our stay we have found things a little more expensive than what we expected. peru has recently closed it borders which was where the peruvians got all their cheap goods from and at the same time the goverment of boliva decided that they didnt want to trade with peru anyways because peru doesnt back chavez(some other goverments leader). point is things a still extremely cheap just not insanely cheap.
meals cost about dollar instead of 33 cents
and our hostal has gone up 3x as much to 2 dollars a day.
we still have plenty of money but we cant really afford to do as much like buying or renting matrials for the people.
good news the gidons are down here and were working on getting free bibles. like 100 percent free. satan my get in the way but nothing can stop the good news of jesus.
thanks for the prayers and loving comments.

first offical blog from peru,puno,lampa

alright a play by play breakdown of life since i left the atlanta.
we landed in miami around 1130 pm-ish then left for peru at 130 am and landed in lima peru at 63o. then we went to around all of lima on a scavenger hunt/tour of the city. that ended around 430 with us taking a bus 2:30 hours out to the middle of nowhere. in the middle of nowhere their was a baptist camp thing kinda crazy to think the baptist have a camp down here but it was a pretty sweet place. then we finally got to bed after 36 hours without sleep and 24 hours of constantly traveling. we then had orintation for a couple of days with all the other reap south 50+ students. we constantly had a set day that started at 7am and end at 9pm and pretty much everyone was sick so it wasnt the best but we did have an amazing teacher. saturday we finally left went back to lima then took a plane to juliaca then a cab to lampa. home sweet home. we didnt got in early but we really felt pretty sick all the traving was taking its toll so we went to bed earlier than normal. today we went into juliaca to get any other things we might need while were here and found out some important stores. we think the gidons might be getting us free bibles which would be pretty freakin sweet. a little bad news our third person got switch becuase she had low blood pressure and the high altuitude would mess her up. but then the person she switched with end up going to a different team so its just me and austin! scary yet exciting but the good news is that God will be glorified no matter if we had 10 extra people or none. the spiritual condition in lampa isnt looking good the churches we started are gone but by Gods grace we will hopefully revive them tommorow were going to the towns around lampa to check on the churches their. i miss yall and thanks for all the prayers. o more good news my spanish is like really good now aka God is giving me words to speak.
peace and grace
Jorge
